Distinguished Public Service Award

In 2005, the Modesto Rotary Club honored me with the “Distinguished Public Service Award” for that year. It was a huge honor. I was nominated by Marian Martino of Martino Graphic Design, and she put together a compilation video showing some of the things I’ve been involved in over the years.

It’s really fun to watch the old video clips and see what I looked liked back then. It reminds me of the huge responsibility public information officers have in the public sector. There’s no hiding behind private industry walls – the public expects and demands to know what is happening in their towns and neighborhoods, especially during a disaster.

I hope you enjoy watching this video. There’s a little funny ending where I was caught off guard on live television with a question about “jail food.”
